In Kemijärvi, early childhood education is provided in three day-care centres. The kindergartens are located in two districts.

In the city centre there is a day-care centre for eight children, the Jyvälänpuisto day-care centre. The kindergarten provides day care.

The Särkikankaan area is home to a three-group kindergarten, the Särkelä kindergarten.
A private day care centre, Pilke Lounatuuli, is located in the city centre, on Jääskönti.
