Yukigassen – playful snowball fight
This is Yukigassen:
Yukigassen is a winter sport developed in Japan that resembles a playful snowball fight. The name comes from the Japanese words yuki (snow) and kassen (fight or war).
The first official Yukigassen match was played in 1989 in Sōbetsu, Japan.
The Yukigassen World Championships are still held annually in Sōbetsu.
The European Championship is held in
Kemijärvi, Finland, and the Nordic Championship in Vardø, Norway.
The match is played in three three-minute rounds. Only effective playing time is taken into account. The basic idea of
Yukigassen is to hit the opposing team’s players with a snowball directly or to capture the opposing team’s flag.
Located in the center of Kemijärvi town. 10 persons to the team. Welcome to enjoy the speedfull weekend with the snowballls.
Organized by The Yukigassen Federation of Finland.
