Villages of Kemijärvi

The villages of Kemijärvi are mainly located on the banks of the Kemijoki and Kemijärvi rivers. Almost 1/3 of Kemijärvi’s inhabitants live in the villages. Isokylä has the largest population of about 450 inhabitants and Javarus the smallest, with about 50 inhabitants. In summer, the population of several villages almost doubles as summer residents arrive at their cottages and old homesteads.
