The City of Kemijärvi’s building control authority is the Economic Development Board and the official functions are performed by the Building Inspector.

Building control is a public authority’s function, which is to help ensure that the built environment is safe, healthy, sustainable and comfortable, and to contribute to ensuring that construction meets generally accepted standards. Building control is responsible for providing advice, guidance, processing permits and supervising construction activities.
